#SolvingTogether Launch session ideas

On the 4th April 13:00-14:00 Tim Ferris, Director of Transformation at NHS England and NHS Improvement. During the session the audience were split into breakout groups and focused on a challenge. Each challenge has two rooms focusing on it.

Here are some of the ideas that the audience came up with during the session.

Room 1: 

  • Extra team to complete pre-assessment
  • Human Factors work to improve safety
  • Digital pre-assessment
  • Looking at the whole process as a whole pre and post theatre time. Integrated working
  • Transparency

Room 2:

  • Don’t want to have downtime - pts arriving on time and everything is available in the theatre when you need it. Highly refined theatre processes like a production line but personalised!! Smooth running and efficient.

  • Consideration of pre-operative processes and services to optimise the theatre experience and prevent problems during and post surgery. Prehabilitation, digital and remote consent
  • Work of Prof Shafi Ahmed at Barts Healthcare - use of VR to support training.
  • Importance of psychological safety and the ability for people to speak up - situational awareness
