Podiatrists at running trainer shops

I'm a regular runner and am a member of a few running groups on Facebook.

A regular query on the Facebook groups is about running gait and the appropriate trainers for particular gaits. A common recommendation is for the person asking to go to a running trainer shop and get their gait tested. Often a podiatrist or physio professional will point out that more often than not, the person at the running shop who carries out the gait analysis has no formal training.

Wearing the wrong trainers can cause foot injuries, as well as niggles and injuries further up the kinetic chain, too.

My idea is for trained podiatrists to hold sessions/drop in clinics at running trainer shops to answer questions about gait, foot health, etc as well as give advice on things like stretches.

This is an investment that has the potential to save time over the longer run (no pun intended!) as people avoid injuries that may need more indepth treatment by other services - not just podiatry and MSK/physio but also thinking about the benefits for mental wellbeing and weight management that being physically active gives us all.

EDIT: many running trainer shops have sadly gone out of business recently. What about the above advice at places like gyms, parkrun, etc?
