There's more to a career in healthcare than you think…

Awareness
Just try it

The Aspiring Allies campaign is an awareness and engagement initative built around raising the profile of Allied Health Professional careers.

The campaign includes a website (www.aspiringallies.co.uk) which includes information on the AHP roles and numerous 'inspirational stories' which show real staff and their journey into their profession and beyond. The campaign also promotes the value of support worker roles.

The campaign posts regular content on their social media channels and also provides a free virtual work experience programme to anyone considering a career in health and social care: Virtual Work Based Learning Programme - Aspiring Allies

The campaign has equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging at its heart and aims to support increasing representation within healthcare roles so that we can better represent the communities we serve.

Greater awareness and use of this website, resources and virtual work experince would be welcomed.

Hi Caroline, thank you for sharing your idea. We're hearing that there's not enough awareness of the different types of roles available in the NHS, and in particular not enough awareness of AHP roles. Thank you for sharing this great work you're doing to raise the profile of AHP roles. The virtual work experience sounds good, what kind of uptake do you get and what kind of feedback do you receive? Thanks again.

Hi Leigh, In the past year we have only been accessed via individuals living in West Yorkshire and have supported over 250 individuals to take part in this. From this coming September, we have widened this offer out across the whole of the North East and Yorkshire region. We already have plans with individual colleges to offer out to all healthcare T level students so envisage a significant increase in uptake. On feedback, this has been really positive, specifically that it is free, easy to access and they feel much more knowledgeable about AHP's/specific professions.
