Apprenticeship in Business Administration

Awareness
Equitable access
Funding

I started my L3 Business Administration apprenticeship in 2022 and finished in 2024 studying my L2 Functional skills Maths along side. I worked in Student Trainee and Placement Support for my first year then IT at the end of January 2023 to May 2024. I passed my Apprenticeship in April 2024 and got put on the Bank in July 2023.

I feel like when people think of working in a hospital they immediately think of a clinical working position. I feel like Corporate roles are very undermined and forgotten about sometimes from other staff in the trust because no one can see the background work that is produced and only the frontline which is more visible.

I do wish that they connect more with universities to offer more apprenticeships which aren't just for nursing. I'd love to learn on the job and know I will be guaranteed a job after.

After I finished on the bank at the end of May 2024 due to funding, I was unemployed for 3 months till I start my new job in early August 2024 so I would like to be assured that an apprenticeship route is good and guaranteed a job after otherwise I would just find a full time course at university.

Thank you for sharing your journey Christina, I'm in total agreement as to the value of business management professionals and the sometimes poor visibility or acknowledgement of the role we play - I'm a senior business manager in NHS England and find I'm very keen to highlight the value of my function and profession. I also thought your comment about apprenticeships being broader than Nursing and resulting in a job at the end was really interesting - I'm doing a senior leader apprenticeship at the moment and while I am doing it through an employer I've been with for a long time and intend to stay with for a while yet, it hadn't occurred to me about the potential lack of a role after all the hard work you put into your learning and development, but I'm very glad to hear you've found a role to go into next month! Best of luck with it!
