Thank you for sharing your brilliant video, Geraint! What would be your one piece advice to anyone considering joining the NHS as a pharmacist?

Thanks Leigh! That's a tough one, but it's an incredibly exciting time to be joining the profession. As of 2026, all students who are enrolled onto an MPharm degree will leave University as a prescriber, dramatically altering how Pharmacists can plan and deliver NHS services to our patients.

There has been an increased acknowledgement, awareness and appreciation of the breadth of skills that a Pharmacist can bring to the multi-disciplinary team, and how we can be utilised to support other services. We're now able to deliver more clinical services than ever before; diagnosing, prescribing and supporting colleagues on ensuring everyone gets the most from their medicines. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the perception of the role of a Pharmacist changes, as we do so much more than put tablets in a bag!

It's great to hear it's an exciting time to join the profession - I'm also interested in seeing how the perception changes, pharmacists really do so much more than put tablets in a bag! Pharmacists provide an invaluable resource to the NHS and the people we care for.
