Informative texts for patients (tweet chat idea)

The NHS made great use of texting during the Covid-19 pandemic: even a text with local services to turn to while waiting for surgery or a number to ring to get information from can be a huge form of support from patients. Organisations like @VersusArthritis

have a free phone number, there is a lot of potential for this.

I always express that information is key, and once an individuals have access to this it could help them to concentrate on something else which may reduce the stress and anxiety waiting for a major operation. For this reason, I created a book which gives individuals a simple understanding of how their body works and related it to something they do on an everyday basis, walking. http://r3physiotherapy.com/wp-content/uploads...-Oct-2020-2.pdf

Consider multiple tools which work for individuals. These could include texting information, apps, but also to note that paper & consideration of cultural competence can work well to improve shared understanding.

Thanks Hugh need to consider wide range of tools - GP has used texting information successfully - some good apps especially around personalised consent becoming available, good old fashioned paper in a range of languages and then finally people to support shared understanding
